Professional & Public-Sector Flood Protection · New Zealand

Flood Protection for Insurers, Councils & Property Organisations

Special Solutions Trade supplies practical, reusable flood-protection systems throughout New Zealand for individual properties, commercial sites and organisations managing multiple assets. We can help compare suitable barrier options using the information available for a site, provide product and quotation information, and support planning for practical deployment.

Our range includes removable aluminium flood barriers, modular ABS barriers and portable water-filled systems. Different sites require different approaches, so we do not assume one barrier type is suitable for every property or flood scenario.

A straightforward referral pathway

If a homeowner or business has been referred following flooding, an insurance claim or a property review, they do not need to know which flood barrier they require before contacting us. A useful starting point is the property location, photographs, approximate opening or protection-line measurements, known flood history and any relevant site information.

We can then help the customer compare potentially suitable products and provide pricing or further product information where appropriate. Special Solutions Trade does not determine insurance coverage and this guidance is not an engineering, hydrological or formal flood-risk assessment.

Who we can support

Insurers & Loss Adjusters

A practical contact point for customers considering future flood mitigation following a claim or known flood exposure. We can provide product information, quotations and relevant available documentation without making decisions about policy coverage or claim acceptance.

Housing & Property Portfolios

For community housing providers, property managers, maintenance partners and organisations responsible for multiple properties, we can discuss individual sites as well as broader multi-site requirements. This can include product comparison, practical deployment considerations, storage and supply planning.

Councils & Public-Sector Organisations

We can support enquiries for temporary or prepared flood protection with product information, quotations and available technical documentation. Where a project requires engineering, hydrological assessment or specialist design input, that should be obtained from an appropriately qualified professional.

Commercial & Facilities

Flood protection may be considered for defined openings, access points, warehouses, supermarkets, plant areas and other vulnerable parts of a site. The appropriate approach depends on the expected water, ground conditions, available footprint, deployment requirements and potential routes around or beneath a barrier.

Refer a Property

If you are an insurer, loss adjuster, housing provider, property manager or other organisation referring a homeowner or business for flood protection, you can direct them to Special Solutions Trade without first selecting a product. We can work through the information they already have and help compare potentially suitable options.

A useful first step is to send the property location, photographs, approximate measurements and any known flood history. Our flood-barrier measurement guide explains what is useful to collect.

For procurement and internal review

For councils, housing organisations, insurers, commercial portfolios and other professional buyers, Special Solutions Trade can provide quotations, product information and available technical documentation to support internal review or procurement. Documentation varies by product and configuration, and we will distinguish manufacturer information, material testing and other technical evidence rather than treating them as the same thing.

For multi-site requirements, we can begin with the types of properties or assets involved, geographic spread, likely applications, storage and deployment expectations, and the information your organisation requires before individual sites are progressed.

Discuss a portfolio or multi-site requirement

For organisations responsible for multiple properties or assets, the first conversation does not need to start with a product order. We can begin by understanding the types of sites involved, likely applications, geographic spread, deployment expectations and the information your organisation needs for internal review or procurement.

Flood-protection systems

Barrier height or product size alone does not establish a safe flood depth, current resistance or site-specific performance. Ground conditions, water direction, bypass routes, installation and correct deployment all matter. No flood-protection system can guarantee that a property will remain completely dry in every flood event.

What helps us review an enquiry

  • Property or site location.
  • Photographs of the opening or proposed protection area and the wider surroundings.
  • Approximate measurements.
  • Known previous flood depth, direction or entry points where available.
  • Ground surface and potential routes around the proposed barrier line.
  • Any relevant operational, storage or deployment requirements.
  • For organisations, the number and type of properties or sites being considered.
