Commercial Flood Protection at Mount Albert New World, Auckland
After the supermarket suffered severe flooding during the January 2023 Auckland floods, Special Solutions Flood Protection supplied two complementary systems for the rebuilt site: removable FloodShield Aluminium Barriers for selected rear openings and a modular FloodBloc Wall around the front.
The case study includes the earlier flood history, project photographs, the aluminium and FloodBloc solutions, and Allan McLean’s on-site work through the difficult angles and changes in direction.

Inflatable Flood Barrier Helps Protect Kauwhata Marae During Cyclone Gabrielle
As floodwater rose rapidly around Kauwhata Marae, Special Solutions Flood Protection provided a water-filled inflatable barrier across the wharenui. Filled with approximately 4,000 litres of water, it created a focused line of defence during a difficult night-time response.
The project story records the real flood conditions, the outcome at the wharenui and the community effort involving whānau, local supporters and emergency crews.
