questions about flood protection.
Start by getting in touch with us with a few details about your site, such as the opening you want to protect and any known flooding issues. We’ll review the information, recommend a suitable solution, and provide a clear, tailored quote. We’ll guide you through the process step by step.
Installation depends on the site and the type of flood protection required. Permanent systems are professionally installed to ensure correct alignment and sealing. Once installed, deployment is simple and can be carried out by the property owner when flooding is expected.
Pricing varies depending on the size of the opening, site conditions, and the type of protection needed. You can request a free estimate by contacting us or submitting an online enquiry. We provide upfront pricing once we understand your requirements.
Deployment time depends mainly on the length of the opening being protected. Short openings can be deployed quickly, while longer driveways or wide access points take more time. All systems are designed to be practical to deploy during heavy rain events.

Yes. Flood protection can be used for residential properties, commercial buildings, and public facilities. Each site is assessed individually to ensure the solution is appropriate.
Flood protection isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right solution depends on your site layout, flood risk, surface conditions, and how quickly protection needs to be deployed.
We offer three main flood protection options:
- Aluminium flood barriers (FloodShield Aluminium Flood Barrier)
Best suited for properties that experience repeated flooding or require higher levels of protection. These systems are permanently installed with removable aluminium panels and are ideal for doorways, driveways, and large openings where long-term reliability is essential.
- Inflatable flood barriers (FloodLine Series Pro / FloodLine XL)
Designed for fast, temporary protection. Inflatable barriers are quick to deploy and well suited to situations where permanent installation isn’t practical or where rapid response is required.
- ABS modular barriers (FloodBloc Wall)
A freestanding, reusable solution for low-to-moderate flood levels. ABS barriers are commonly used for short-term or emergency protection and work well where ground preparation is limited.
We assess factors such as expected flood height, opening width, surface condition, and deployment time to recommend the most practical and reliable solution for your property — not the most complex or costly option.
Yes. Special Solutions Trade holds full business insurance through Vero Insurance New Zealand Ltd, including Public & Broadform Liability cover up to $2,000,000 and Statutory Liability cover up to $1,000,000.
This insurance applies to both residential and commercial flood protection projects across New Zealand. A Certificate of Currency can be provided upon request if required for project documentation.
Flood barriers are designed to significantly reduce or prevent water from entering protected areas, but no flood protection system can guarantee complete waterproofing in extreme conditions.
Correct installation and choosing the right system for the site are important for achieving the best protection.
